Chain-storytelling on healthcare
Chain-storytelling on healthcare
This is an exercise to warm up and to get in touch with our experiences with healthcare. We play a round of chain storytelling. It is a way to remind ourselves what obstacles we tend to encounter in healthcare. We can sit, lie or stand in a circle.
The first person picks a random event related to health, like:
Since weeks I feel sad and have low energy… or I would like to change my contraception… or I have the flu…
The next person continues with what comes to their mind:
… I consider I might need therapy…
… but I have no gynecologist in the city I live in…
… but I have no German health insurance…
and the next person continues, giving the story more direction
… but I have no idea what kind of therapies are available to me…
… and I start looking up gynecologists in my area…
… and I am worried I wont get support…
We let the story develop without it needing conclusions. When we run out of ideas for follow-up events and consequences, we start with a new initial incident.
As a way to motivate ourselves to work towards changes in healthcare, the chain-storytelling can also be done with the assumption that all our demands have been put into practice and we promptly get what we need.
