At our workshops and events, we have worked in small groups on questions about what changes we think are needed in the health system.
The following questions can be worked on individually and in small groups. In small groups we suggest working as follows:
In a first round, everyone has two minutes to report what comes to their mind about the question
In a second round, we establish links between the ideas and contributions.
In the third step, we try to work out structural steps and consequences: what would have to happen to make this possible?
In the workshop format, all small groups presented their results in a plenary session.
Group questions
How would you like to be supported in a health care situation where you experience injustice? What procedures, complaints bodies, (financial) compensation, support, counselling would be useful?
How should the impact of discrimination and inequality on health be taken into account in the health system? What is needed for this? (Data collection, research, affected person centres, prevention, survey, advisory boards, commissions, etc) What consequences could arise from this? What steps/entities could implement this?
How can the needs and demands of users of the health system (who are represented here today) be collected, elaborated and published? (Funding, structure, events, offices, committees, development of political guidelines etc.)
How could a New Health Movement organise itself? What form of organisation would help to build alliances and support each other? What structures and communication channels would be important (to you)?
How can training/studies in health care be made more accessible and break down exclusions (who earns how much, who teaches, who does nursing, who holds management positions, who has a health insurance seat?) How can entry conditions to the profession be opened up: Quotas, numerus clausus, training/studies, recognition of qualifications acquired abroad?
How can patient self-organisation be strengthened in all areas of health care? (Practical patient representation in hospitals, clinics, health centres, practical design of spaces and services, from. What is needed? What could be organised?
How could patient's self-organisation be supported in all areas of health care? How could patient's self-organisation look in practice: in hospitals, clinics, health centres? How could spaces and practices be created or changed? What is required? How could it get organized?
